The Kubuntu Council is a group of 6 Kubuntu Members who get to vote on membership of Kubuntu Members and occasionally other decisions regarding Kubuntu.

Half the council is nearing the end of their 2 year appointment so we need to hold elections for the open positions to the council. This could be you! If you are a Kubuntu Member and are willing to turn up to Kubuntu meetings as much as possible for the next couple of years do consider putting your name forward.

The Kubuntu Community is pleased to announce plans for the 12.04 LTS release of Kubuntu. As approved by the Ubuntu Technical Board on January 9th, 12.04 will be a 5-year long-term support cycle for Kubuntu. Please see our Beta 1 announcement for some of the highlights.

The Kubuntu team is proud to announce the release of 11.04 - codename Natty Narwhal: the latest version of our popular Linux distribution, based on Ubuntu and KDE's Plasma and Applications 4.6. With the combination of it's Ubuntu backbone, the amazing KDE Software Compilation, and a few unique extras, 11.04 aims to provide the best fusion of stability, beauty, and up-to-date software.

The second update to 10.04 has been released. The CD images feature many security and bug fix updates for new installs. If you are running 10.04 you can just update your system as normal.

The first alpha release for natty is available for the brave early testers. It features KDE Platform 4.6 Beta 1, Qt's Raster graphics engine and GStreamer multimedia.
