KDE SC 4.4 Beta 1 Packages

The first beta of KDE SC 4.4 has packages available in our Beta PPA.

Users of our latest development release, Lucid, can upgrade to the latest packages.

Users of our stable 9.10 release can install it from the Kubuntu Beta PPA.

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/beta/ubuntu karmic main

Then do sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop.

Kubuntu Lucid Alpha 1 Out

The first alpha for our next release is available. This is a very early pre-release. It comes full of bugs and is to be used only by the most adventurous.

KDE Software Compilation 4.4 beta 1 packages coming soon

KOffice 2.1 Available

KOffice 2.1 has been released. This release is a marked improvement of almost all parts of KOffice compared to 2.0. Version 2.0 was labeled a “platform release”, which was meant as a first preview of the framework and new UI paradigm. In version 2.1, most applications and components have improved significantly but should still only be used by early adopters and probably not as the primary worktool.

What's New and Improved Since Kubuntu 9.04

The Karmic Koala brings with it a better integrated and more stable desktop, as well as many new features. There have been updates to many common applications as well as bug fixes to some of those annoyances you may or may not have run into. 9.10 adds a whole new version of Kubuntu especially for Netbooks revealing a user interface more suited to small screens.
